Sample #X
Fiber:  Angora
Weight of Skein:  30 grams

Appl: #1600203
Type: Plucked French
Length: 230 Yards

Spinning Equipment Used: Small supported spindle made from door pull and dowel
Direction of Twist:  Z
# of Plies: 1
Finishing:  The yarn was washed, blocked and steam set with a hand held steamer.
Yarn Description:  This is a simple, even single spun yarn in a Z twist.  Small supported spindles are designed for various fine yarns. As a rule of thumb, I spin a yarn the same diameter as the diameter of the spindle.  This angora fits that rule.  It is a suitable weight for the angora--if angora is spun too fine it loses much of its handle.
Uses: Delicate crocheted baby booties, bonnets and shawls would make up beautifully from this yarn.  Fabric woven with this as weft would drape heavenly--I'd like it as a top.

Preparation for Spinning:   Plucked off my daughter's five year old buck, the fiber was sorted by softness and color, carded into small batts on cotton cards and spun.

Reason for Choice of this Sample:  Angora is my favorite fiber to spin on a small supported spindle.  Being fine and open, it draws smoothly with one hand.  Having once had a good size heard of bunnies, but now only two (now none), I make the most of the little angora I have.
