Sample #25
Fiber:  Mohair/Wool
Weight of Skein:  60 grams

Appl: #1600203
Type: Doe/Romney
Length: 74 Yards

Spinning Equipment Used: Flyer Wheel, Ratio 10:1|
Direction of Twist:  Z
# of Plies: 1
Finishing:  The yarn was washed, blocked and steam set with a hand held steamer.
Technique: Based on my understanding of the directions, this yarn was to be (an) even single the correct diameter to correspond to the wheel used.  I choose a medium speed whorl on the wheel and spun a medium weight, somewhat softly twisted, single yarn.  The blend of mohair and Romney is very strong in this diameter and weight yarn but still very lustrous with nice handle.
Uses:  This yarn looks marvelous in a bound weave saddle blanket.   It could also be used for weaving afghans and lap throws.  If you picked the right knitting stitch, it could be used for slippers.

Preparation for Spinning: The wool and mohair were washed separately in hot water with Ivory liquid.  They were dried on a towel out of the sun.  They were blended together on a drumcarder and then pulled into an even roving.

Reason for choice of this Sample:  These fleeces were of exceptional quality and had characteristics conducive for them to blend together.   This blend is one that I enjoy spinning and crocheting into blankets.
