Sample #4 Fiber: Wool Weight of Skein: 60 grams |
Appl: #1600203 |

Spinning Equipment Used:
Double Drive Flyer Driven Wheel, Ratio 4:1| |

Preparation for Spinning: The wool was
washed in very hot water with Ivory liquid. It was laid on a towel in the sun to dry and
turned frequently. The wool was picked by hand, carded on wool hand carders and made
into rolags. Care was taken to make sure an even amount of black hairs were
throughout. Reason for Choice of this Sample: This fleece was in the right range for length (3 to 4 inches), nice and crimpy with lots of bounce, relatively clean though could be cleaner, and sound. This was the last sample I spun for the COE and would have preferred a slightly softer fleece, a little shorter and somewhat stronger. I liked the interest of the black hairs interspersed in the fiber. |
