Sample #36 Fiber: Mohair Weight of Skein: 59 grams |
Appl: #1600203 |
||
Spinning Equipment Used:
Ashford Charkha, Navaho Spindle |
|||
Preparation for spinning: The roving was cut with sharp scissors into 1 to 1 1/2 inch pieces. It was spun from the center of each cut piece. Reason for Choice of this Sample: In order to have the best results for a "fur" yarn, a very stiff fiber in roving form needs to be used. This honey colored mohair was stiff and dense--just right. Strength is not a factor as this yarn is never strong. |

This picture above looks a little darker than actual sample. This mohair is not white but honey colored. You need a very stiff fiber to create these caterpillar yarns. But they look great woven into trim for a jacket. |
