Sample #24
Fiber:  Acrylic & Rayon
Weight of Skein:  60 grams

Appl: #1600203
Type: Rovings
Length: 90 Yards (relaxed)

Spinning Equipment Used: Double Drive Flyer Wheel, Ratio 15:1|
Direction of Twist:  S
# of Plies: 2
Finishing:  The yarn was washed and blocked.
Technique:  The batts were drawn out into roving then spun with along draw with medium Z twist.  The were then plied S twist for balance.
Uses:  This indestructible yarn could be knitted, crocheted or knotted into totes to carry groceries for the ecological minded shopper.  Used in very limited quantities as novelty in warp or weft for interest in a throw or blanket.   Slippers made from this yarn would never wear out and could be thrown in the wash.

Preparation for Spinning:   The rayon was dyed with Easter egg dyes and then blended with the acrylic on the drumcarder.

Reason for Choice of this Sample:  At the time this sample was spun, good synthetics were not available.  These are harsh with little body, bounce or softness.  Much better preparations of synthetics are now available.   Unfortunately, time did not allow for me to make a new sample with currently available fiber.
