Sample #34
Fiber:  Nylon/Rayon
Weight of Skein:  30 grams

Appl: #1600203
Type: Rovings
Length: 26 Yards

Spinning Equipment Used: Double Drive Flyer Wheel, Ratio 15:1|
Direction of Twist:  Final Twist Z
# of Plies: 4
Finishing:  The yarn was washed, blocked and steam set with a hand held steamer.
Technique:  Four Z twist singles were spun:  a fine and a heavy nylon, a fine and heavy rayon.  A find rayon was S plied with the heavy nylon, the fine nylon was S plied with the heavy rayon.  The two plied yarns were then Z plied with each other.
Uses:  This yarn is most suitable for weft in weaving.  I would choose to use it for novelty weft in a baby blanket because it is soft and washable.   It could also be used for knitting on large needles (size 8 to 10) various clothing items such as sweaters, hats, scarves and slippers.

Preparation for Spinning:   Fiber lengths were pulled from the rovings and spun from the tips.

Reason for Choice of this Sample:  The nylon had such luster and good silkiness and the rayon was soft and colorful that I felt it would be fun to use them together.  Their rovings were of excellent quality.
