Sample #21
Fiber:  Camel
Weight of Skein:  60 grams

Appl: #1600203
Type: Camel Down Roving
Length: 202 Yards

Spinning Equipment Used: Scotch brake flyer wheel, ratio 19:1
Direction of Twist:  S
# of Plies: 2
Finishing:  The yarn was washed and blocked dry.  No further setting was necessary as the yarn was balanced.
Technique:  The yarn was spun long draw from short lengths of roving.
Uses: This yarn is ideal for knitting or crocheting sweaters, hats or slippers.  It slips through the hooks of a standard Toyota Knitting Machine on the lightest tension.  It is marginal as a warp yarn but definitely suitable for weft.   Scarves, blankets, sweaters, hats and jackets are all suitable (projects) for this yarn.

Preparation for Spinning:   No further preparation was necessary.

Reason for Choice of this Sample:  This roving was the best source of camel on the market--inexpensive, lustrous, relatively long stapled, lack of felting and easy to spin.
