Yarn Design:  Example H

This swatch made from sample #40 (twist factor in yarn design)   demonstrates how the twist in the yarn design accentuates the ripples in the twill weave.  It also makes a very pretty and substantial fringe.  The fine over twisted ply adds strength to the design and holds the untwisted heavy ply together.   This combination creates the ripples.
The success of this swatch preludes the weaving of fabric for a  jacket.  A lined bomber style with knitted ribbing would be stylish.   This sample will also knit suitable for ribbing.
The swatch was woven on a rigid heddle loom, warped 10 threads to the inch.  The twill was picked up with a shed stick.  I saved a bit of fine thread, unplied to use for finishing the ends.
To finish the swatch, I washed it in warm water with Ivory liquid, dried, blocked and steam set.  A garment should be cared for in the same manner.
