Text of Description Card Preparation for Spinning: First I pulled off fiber lengths from the roving. Next I combed through this with woolcarders removing all small nips and short fibers. I spun from the batts off the carders. Reason for Choice of this Sample: This roving was inexpensive, easily obtainable, superior to other tows I found, with fewer nips and a longer staple. The very white nature of the roving makes it conducive for dyeing.

All notations that I have added that were not part of the COE are in blue. These are important as a retrospective on the project. Though the fiber was purchased as roving, it was too lumpy to spin a consistent yarn with. Carding it again with wool carders allowed me to remove the noil and keep only best and smoothest fiber. |
