Sample #3
Fiber:  Wool
Weight of Skein:  59 grams

Appl: #1600203
Type: Rambouillet
Length: 526 Yards

Spinning Equipment Used: Double Drive Flyer Wheel, Ratio 19:1|
Direction of Twist:  Z
# of Plies: 1
Finishing:  The yarn was washed, dyed and steam set in a commercial steamer for 8 hours.
Technique:  The yarn was spun using the British long draw method for woolens as illustrated in as described and illustrated in "The Essentials of Handspinning" by Mable Ross.
Uses:  I planned to crochet bonnet and booties for a Christmas baby.   The soft, bouncy handle of this yarn is ideal for baby garments, warm yet soft and light.  With care the yarn can be used for warp but more suitable for weft in making fabric or scarves.

Preparation for Spinning:  Washed carefully in very hot water with Ivory liquid, dried on towel indoors in sunny window, carded with cotton handcarders and made into thin rolags.

Reason for Choice of this Sample: This fleece won top prize at the county fair and was a gift to me.   The fine, very bouncy character of the fleece makes it very suitable for a fine woolen.
