Sample #23
Fiber:  Ramie
Weight of Skein:  60 grams

Appl: #1600203
Type: Rovings
Length: 106 Yards

Spinning Equipment Used: Double Drive Flyer Wheel, Ratio 15:1|
Direction of Twist:  S
# of Plies: 2
Finishing:  The yarn was washed, blocked and steamed with a hand held steamer.
Technique:  Fiber lengths were pulled from the roving and worsted spun from the tips.  Slight irregularities were allowed.  The singles were Z twist, then balanced in S twist ply.
Uses:  Woven tightly in tabby this yarn would make a lovely crisp jacket.  Table linens in many different weaves would be suitable because of its strength and luster.  Knitted with cotton in a ribbed sweater vest would make nice comfortable summer wear.

Preparation for Spinning:   None was necessary.

Reason for Choice of this Sample: Vegetable fibers for spinning other than cotton, linen and ramie are difficult to come by.  This ramie was of good quality though over priced.  I would have preferred something more interesting but was unable to obtain a suitable source.
